This was a very intense project with a 3 week post schedule. Mike and I were the only 3D artists working on it. He primarily focused on all the Realflow sims, while I focused on the camera matching, Realflow integration, shader dev and fireworks. With 17 full on cheese FX shots and numerous other secondary effects that had to be tackled by the compositors, everybody really pulled together to make this something special.

Under The Hood
Using Google maps and lots of reference, I modeled the basic shapes of the stadium. Originally we were going to use the Daylight System in Max to mimic the exact lighting at time of implosion. The resulting render is that lighting solution. We ended up scrapping the daylight system for a basic lighting approach on a shot to shot basis to make the cheese look best.
